Magic and Illusion in Edinburgh

Speaker - Richard Wiseman

VERY POPULAR – NOW FULLY BOOKED!

Magicians preserve their past in huge hidden archives. In this talk, Richard will delve into this secret world to explore how three magicians shaped both the city and the fabric of magic. He will examine how popular entertainers amused the masses in Portobello, as well as the life and death of magic’s most highly paid entertainer. Along the way, he will present a few illusions and invite everyone to celebrate Edinburgh’s wonderful relationship with the art of conjuring.

Professor Richard Wiseman has published over 100 academic papers, written books that have sold in excess of 3 million copies and created psychology-based YouTube videos that have attracted over 800 million views. He is the recipient of the Royal Society’s David Attenborough Award for public engagement, a Member of the Inner Magic Circle, and has worked with Derren Brown. A firm supporter of live performance, he served on the board of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for 8 years.
